Vancouver Island

Vancouver Island SunsetIn a recent poll participated by Americans, Vancouver Island was voted as one of the best North American Islands. The decision was based according to the climate, the destination hot spots, the cuisine and everything that tourists would love in the place. So what is it about Vancouver Islands, aptly located in Canada that secured its place as the top best islands in North America?

Being ranked as the 43rd largest island in the entire world is already a feast in itself. But apart from that, this island provides a rough and scenic spot that foreigners and sports enthusiasts would definitely adore. Mountain ranges that extend the whole length of the island with its rugged and west coast shoreline provide a spot for hiking and mountain climbing. The terrain and the trails on this side of the mountain gently give off a panoramic view of the seaside and the Bay Shore down stream.

Like other best North American Islands, the Vancouver Island also has a warm and humid climate, a fact embraced by some people who have lived in cold weather for years and have eventually transferred here. The climate in this part of the world is probably because of the mountains and the seashores engulfing the whole area. During the summer months in the area, the scale can tip up to 70-80 F – a warm and sunny atmosphere – and it becomes relatively cool during the night. During the winter months, however, the temperature never drops below 0 C. There is also the presence of a snowy atmosphere in the area, good for those who consider skiing as one of their sports. And generally, snow becomes an advantage to outdoor adventurers – as they can both do mountain biking in the morning and then snow skiing in the afternoon.

Mount Washington and Mount Cain are also two resorts in the island that tourists can go to when Vancouver Islands is snowing. There are also designated parks in the island – MacMillan Provincial Park and Carmanah Walbran Provincial Park – which hold the strands of Douglas Fir and Sitka Spruce in the whole world.

Apart from these, botanists can marvel and wonder at some of the ever growing trees and bushes that are naturally found here. Ferns, lichens, mosses, bushes and many flowering shrubs can also be contained here. What is more astounding is that there is much marine wildlife living here. Species such as the gray whale, mink, elephant seas and others have purportedly invaded the marine shores. What a sight to behold as sea otters and bald eagles have also created a habitat that is formed here.

A beauty and immensely wonderful creations are all stored here in Vancouver Island and the propensity of it is huge here. Not only do clear waters and clear skies invade such pristine ground but both tourists and locals can enjoy a summer (or a winter) they can never forget in this one of the best North American Islands.
